Man on death row for Marshall County murders loses appeal
MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) - A condemned Marshall County triple murderer lost his appeal over his conviction and death sentence.
On Friday, the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals rejected Jimmy O’Neal Spencer’s appeal.
Spencer is on death row for murdering three people in Marshall County in 2018.
Spencer was convicted of capital murder for the deaths of Marie Martin, Martha Reliford, and Colton Ryan Lee.
Spencer raised several issues in his appeal, including his mental competency, his statements to investigators being allowed at trial and that the death sentence violates his constitutional rights.
The appeals court found no errors in Spencer’s case and that the death sentence was proper for his case.
