Courtland Police Chief released from hospital after patrol truck overturns in crash

Courtland Police Chief Spencer Butler was released from the hospital after being involved in a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday evening.

NORTH COURTLAND, Ala. (WAFF) - Courtland Police Chief Spencer Butler was involved in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening.

Authorities say the crash occurred just before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Alabama 20 and County Road 150 in North Courtland.

Officials say Chief Butler’s patrol truck overturned at the scene.

Butler was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital, where he is being treated after suffering a laceration to his head and severely injuring his shoulder.

ALEA, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, and Courtland Police all responded to the scene.

Chief Butler has been released from the ICU.
