Red, White and Boom returns to Athens Sportsplex; festivities start at 4 p.m. Saturday

ATHENS, Ala. (WAFF) - Communities across North Alabama are holding their own celebrations for America’s 250th birthday.

The city of Athens is holding its Red, White, and Boom festival.

It’s one of the many activities in the city, beginning with Arts After Hours on Friday.

Red, White, and Boom kicks off at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Athens Sportsplex.

“It’s our huge 250th celebration, and we are going to celebrate big time, starting at 4 p.m. with food trucks, battle of the bands, storytellers,” said Pammy Jamar, President of Athens-Limestone County Chamber of Commerce.

The festivities all culminate with a fireworks show at 9 p.m. at the Athens Sportsplex.
