DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - There are plenty of activities to take part in this weekend as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s independence.

In Decatur, the 60th annual Spirit of America festival coincides with America’s 250th birthday.

In addition to food trucks and vendors, leaders say a hometown musician will take center stage for the festival’s entertainment.

“So we’re celebrating a lot of things this year. We also have Lamont Landers headlining Spirit of America this year. He’s from Decatur, so we’re hoping to have a big hometown crowd for him, and we’re excited to welcome him to the Spirit of America stage.”

The festival ends with a fireworks show, scheduled to start at 9 p.m.
