Scouting Service Aims to Help Baseball Prospects

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - In an ever changing landscape inside High School recruiting, a former High School baseball coach decided to help North Alabama High School Baseball players to continue to pursue their dreams.

Former Huntsville High School Baseball Coach David Sharp is the Baseball Regional Supervisor for the state of Alabama. He works with Prep Baseball, a National Scouting Service aimed to enhance exposure for High School Student-Athletes.

“It’s toughest on the high school kids right now trying to find a place to play high school or play baseball after high school,” Sharp said.

“We have over 1,100 college coaches that subscribe to our service and then we have over 32,000 followers on our on our X account and you know a lot of those are college coaches and daily they’re scouring our our Twitter feed, our our ex feed and on our website looking at scouting reports that we put together.

Prep Baseball holds Scouting ID Showcase events for High School Baseball players across the state and throughout the country.

Each event gives athletes the ability to test their skills conducive to being properly evaluated and potentially signed to a Collegiate Baseball Scholarship.

We feel that the metrics and the data that we provide, whether it’s a track man getting exit velocities, Max distance 60’s with 10-3-60 lasers and and for pitchers you know we have to set up the trackman as well," Preps Baseball Director of Scouting Austin Sharp said.

“We have fastball velocity, it’s spin rates, horizontal vertical movement, horizontal vertical movement and and just being able to be the source of just being able to provide the verified data for college coaches to be able to access at their hands, going to our website, we feel that that’s a a very, very important part of the process because analytics has become a big part of the game nowadays.

But we feel like the the verified metrics and data that we provide is is certainly a big part of the process."
