DeKalb County Coroner identifies couple killed in murder-suicide

Two people are dead following a murder-suicide in DeKalb County.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) -DeKalb County Coroner Tom Wilson has now identified the two people killed in a murder-suicide in Mentone Friday night.

The two have been identified as Kenneth Trowbridge, 76, and his wife Vicky Patrick, 69.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened in Mentone on Friday night.

DeKalb County 911 center received a call from a man who said he needed law enforcement at his home due to multiple fatalities.

The caller said he had shot his wife and their dogs and then expressed intentions to take his own life. Dispatchers continued to engage in conversation until the call was disconnected.

When deputies arrived, they discovered the bodies of a man, a woman and two dogs, all with apparent gunshot wounds.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to the Mentone Police Department, Valley Head Police Department, Ider Police Department, Valley Head Fire Department, and the North Lookout Mountain Fire Protection District for their assistance. Please keep all families involved in your thoughts and prayers for the weeks and months to come,” DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Weldon said.
