Calhoun Community College program gives students a head start in the medical field
DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - A program at Calhoun Community College is giving high school students a head start in the medical field.
The school offers a dual enrollment EMT course for students in Limestone, Morgan, and Madison counties.
The program has been around for several years but is seeing new growth, with students getting daily hands-on experience and preparing to take the national EMT test.
Some former students are already working in the field.
“EMT’s are a jack of all trades if you will. They know a lot, you get to see a lot of patient experience,” said Tyler Mosely with Calhoun Community College. “And either way you look at it, the program is providing a route to the medical field for all these students.”
Students interested in the EMT program can talk to their high school guidance counselors to learn more about how to enroll.
