Torch Technologies holds annual golf tournament

Torch Technologies hosted its annual Charity Golf Tournament for the benefit of the Village of Promise.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Defense contractor Torch Technologies held its annual Charity Golf Tournament Benefiting Village of Promise on Friday.

All proceeds made at the tournament go to the Village of Promise. The family advancement group was founded in 2011 and helps children in the Huntsville area.

48 News spoke to the President of Torch Technologies Brad Walker, who was at the event Friday morning. He said the company became a public benefit corporation.

Public benefit corporations are for-profit companies that aim to create public benefits while operating responsibility and sustainability.

Walker said partnering with the Village of Promise is one of the ways the company is trying to give back to the community.

They’ve been partnered for several years and Walker said they plan to continue the partnership for decades to come.
