More than 100 people apply for Huntsville DEI position

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - More than 100 people have already applied for Huntsville’s DEI position.

According to the city of Huntsville, 136 people applied to be Huntsville’s next director of diversity, equity and inclusion.

The director works to collaborate on training programs for the city’s workforce. They will also promote community initiatives to make Huntsville more inclusive.

The salary for the position is listed between $85,000 to $145,000 annually.

Last year, Alabama state lawmakers banned all publically funded colleges and government agencies from creating DEI programs.

According to the city, Huntsville doesn’t receive funding from the state.
