HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Enable Madison County announced that it purchased a warehouse vital to its Aging in Place program.

Enable Madison County provides services to elderly and disabled people across the area. The group signed a deal to purchase their longtime warehouse that’s used for cutting, pre-building, and staging wheelchair ramps.

The warehouse was listed for sale last year, almost forcing the group out. Thanks to the support of over 20 donors and community contributors, Enable Madison County was able to purchase the facility.

Officials said the warehouse is vital to allowing the group to serve as many people as possible.

“We prep all the sections needed for the next month’s ramps,” said Charles Jackman of Enable Madison County. “So instead of our volunteers going to the ramp site and build by hand, they’re able to come in here and pick up all the materials needed. It saves them several hours in all that heat.”

Organizers also unveiled a donor wall on Tuesday. The wall, crafted by a local woodworker, displays the names of all the donors who contributed to the purchase of the warehouse.
