Russellville man arrested after hiding fentanyl in Easter eggs

TUSCUMBIA, Ala. (WAFF) - A man was arrested for allegedly hiding fentanyl pills inside plastic Easter eggs on Monday in Tuscumbia.

According to the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 11:45 a.m. after a traffic stop on South Hook Street. During the traffic stop, drug agents received consent to search the vehicle. Authorities said the passenger in the vehicle had confirmed misdemeanor warrants for an arrest in the city of Sheffield. The passenger was identified as 29-year-old Jamarious Dequan Qualls of Russellville.

Agents found two plastic containers with 176 fentanyl pills inside and a plastic bag containing 1oz of “spice” synthetic cannabis.

Qualls was charged with drug trafficking and unlawful possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

He was booked in the Colbert County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
