Crime Stoppers: Thieves withdraw money with cloned card

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The letters ATM might stand for "automated teller machine," but some thieves recently turned one into an "automated theft machine."

In this week's Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers, at least three bad guys cloned a credit card and used it to steal money.

Security video shows one of them appearing to make a normal ATM transaction.

Police say he was actually a crook who was stealing money with a cloned credit card.

The video shows two other crooks police need to identify in this same crime.

Police say these guys stole the information from the magnetic strip on the back of a credit card. Police say they did that by putting a skimmer device in the ATM that pulls over that information when the card is swiped.

And it could happen to an unsuspecting victim anywhere and anytime.

The photo shows the best look at one of the suspects, although there are at least three sought in this case.

If you can help us catch him, the others will probably follow. And you'll pocket a nice cash reward up to $1,000.
