ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Moments before the start of her attempted murder trial - a Marshall County woman agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge.

Susan Shaw pleaded guilty to assault.

Shaw was arrested in December of 2013 and charged for the

of her husband.

Police say her husband was shot three times and had to be airlifted to Huntsville Hospital.

When Albertville police arrived they found her husband shot three times but Shaw herself also had a shot to the leg.

"She had chased him up to the residence where they found him, shooting at him with a 9 mm weapon," said Marshall County District Attorney Everette Johnson. "He was trying to get away and he had to run to the safety of residents behind them."

Shaw has agreed to a 14-year prison sentence, but has asked for probation.

Her sentencing date has been scheduled for April 6. She will remain out on bond.
