Alleged 'Ball Cap Bandit' pleads not guilty

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The man known as the "Ball Cap Bandit" entered a not guilty plea in court, Tuesday morning.

Cedrick Lamond Hicks was indicted in August on nine counts of bank robbery and two counts of attempted bank robbery after he allegedly robbed several banks across north Alabama.

The judge appointed Hicks a public defender at Tuesday's arraignment hearing, but he did not set bond.

The maximum penalty for each robbery count is 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
