HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Top honors today for the men and women who work in Huntsville schools to keep students safe.
The Huntsville police department won recognition as a model agency by the National Association of School Resource Officers.
Chief Lewis Morris says he and school leaders are proud of the work by the 19 SROs in Huntsville schools.
"The officers work to become part of the school and they're there for the kids to help the kids in any situation they may need help," said Chief Morris.
HPD will receive its award on July 7th at a national conference.
