11-year-old dies after swimming in country club pool, police say
UNION, N.Y. (WBNG/Gray News) - An 11-year-old boy died after he was found unresponsive in a country club pool, authorities said.
New York State Police said troopers were called to the Binghamton Country Club on July 8. When they arrived, they found bystanders and lifeguards already initiating lifesaving measures on the boy.
Troopers assisted in those efforts until the child was transported by ambulance to Wilson Medical Center and then flown to Upstate University Hospital.
The child died a day later.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office following further examination.
No foul play is suspected at this time.
