Chilly start with sunshine and highs near 60° Monday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Good Monday morning. Fair skies and chilly temperatures start off the work and school week, morning temps have fallen into the middle 30s and jackets are a good idea when heading out.
Today brings plenty of sunshine across the area and afternoon temperatures are looking cooler than normal around 60 degrees. Winds today are breezy from the northwest with occasional gusts between 15 to 20 miles per hour. Clear skies and calm conditions are forecast overnight allowing Tuesday morning low temperatures to cool into the middle 30s by daybreak.
Tuesday is a warmer day thanks to the southwest breeze and sunshine; highs should warm into the lower 70s. Wednesday is the warmest day of the week as highs climb into the middle 70s with increasing clouds. A few isolated rain showers and storms are expected through Wednesday afternoon. A cold front will move through the Tennessee Valley Wednesday night into Thursday morning. This cold front will trigger scattered to numerous rain showers and thunderstorms through the overnight hours. Although these storms should not be severe, a few stronger storms are possible with threats of heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, gusty winds and small hail.
Behind the front is a much cooler day on Thursday as high temperatures stay in the upper 50s. Friday is a pleasant end to the week with some sunshine and seasonal highs in the low to middle 60s. An early look at next weekend shows warmer temps in the lower 70s and isolated showers are possible both Saturday and Sunday.
