Neighbors said this is shocking for their community.
Madison police said they got the call around 8 p.m. A neighbor, Jolanda Vaughn, who lives in the complex told them she found a body in a pond on the property. Vaughn said she noticed it while she was walking her dogs.
"Noticed something in the water it looked like a backpack or something and my first instinct was it was a child face down," Vaughn said. "It's a quiet community nothing every happens out here so it's pretty traumatic something I probably won't forget for a long time for years to come."
She said she found a suitcase earlier Wednesday in the area, but police haven't confirmed if that belonged to the woman or not.
