Gifts to stray away from on Mother's Day

(WAFF) - There are plenty of articles out there telling you what to get mom, from jewelry to candles to DIY gifts.

But what about those gifts you should steer clear from?

Check out the list of the worst gifts you can buy for the woman you gave you life.

1. A vacuum cleaner

While some moms do ask for cleaning supplies for their big day, it's not the ideal gift to show your love. Mom doesn't want a gift to remind her that she needs to clean up the mess you and your siblings made.

2. A treadmill

Get her workout equipment some other time, but on the day made to celebrate her existence, don't remind her how much she needs to work out. 

3. Fake flowers

If you can't go for the real ones, just don't do flowers at all. She would much rather have a gift certificate or chocolate.

4. Wrong-sized clothes

Whatever you do, do not get mom a top with a size above what she usually wears. If anything, get her a size down. It'll make her feel better.

5. House shoes

She can buy her own slippers. And she probably has several pairs from Mother's Days past. House shoes are nice on a regular day, but try to be a bit more thoughtful on her special day.

6. Just a card

At least throw in some money or a gift card if you're going to go the card route. Can't afford a nice gift? You can always spend that extra $10 on a gift card to her favorite store.

7. A dirty house

Whatever you do, do not mess up her house on Mother's Day. Keep it clean, people. She's been cleaning up your messes for a long time; don't make her do it on Mother's Day.
