HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Lab tests results are in at Huntsville Pediatric Associates for the week of Dec. 2-8.

Doctors said the flu is continuing to make its way through North Alabama, where there was a big increase in positive flu cases.

100 children were tested and 18 came back positive. This is a quick change compared to last week, where only two tests came back positive.

The Alabama Department of Public Health said the common strain is influenza-A, also known as H3. This strain is covered by the flu vaccine. Doctors said the best way to fight the virus is to make sure you and your family are vaccinated.

The upper-respiratory virus known as RSV is also continuing to rake in big numbers. Out of 92 children tested for the illness, 45 showed up positive.
