ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

The results are positive for Browns Ferry following its most recent inspection.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission said Thursday that Browns Ferry has made improvements but also has room for further growth.

Browns Ferry officials said it was the most rigorous inspection the plant has ever had. "Our goal is continued improvement in operational excellence," said plant spokesman Michael Bradley. "We want to be the most efficient, reliable, safest nuclear plant in the country. We have a way to go for that, but as today indicated, we're moving in the right direction."

Overall, Browns Ferry officials say they agree with the assessments made by the NRC.

The inspection is a major step towards the plant coming out from under increased oversight linked to a safety violation in 2011.
