FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -
Starting Thursday, cell phone service in the Shoals will get a little faster for those with Verizon.
The service provider will roll out its 4G capabilities in Florence, Muscle Shoals, and surrounding areas.
Residents said cell phone service tends to be kind of tricky in the Shoals, so they hope the service will help fix those problems.
They are also looking forward to faster internet.
Verizon officials said 4G means internet connection and web surfing will be up to 10 times faster.
UNA students said they're excited to be able to download video and music and share photos more quickly, like they can do in other larger cities such as Huntsville.
"I'm very excited. The speed is the most important thing on the internet," said Caleb Roden.
"I'm always having to wait for things to load. It'd be great if it were faster. Sometimes it actually does put me in a jam if I'm trying to get directions somewhere," said John Brooks Pounders.
Verizon said 4G capabilities will begin Thursday for customers here in the Shoals with compatible phones.
