HATTON, AL (WAFF) -
A former Hatton High School football coach filed a lawsuit
against the Lawrence County Board of Education to be reinstated at the school.
Tyler Berryman claimed the board violated the Open Meetings
Act and is seeking his job as well as civil penalties. Berryman claimed three
of the five board members met on April 2 in an executive session with several
Hatton residents. He said the meeting led to his firing.
According to the law, citizens are not allowed in board
meetings where good name and character are discussed.
