How would you like to take to the skies after a long day at work? There is one group behind Redstone Arsenal's gates that made that hope a reality.

"Normally when they come out here they strip of their suits and they put on their civi's and they're somebody else when they come out here," said Derek Romine with Redstone Flying Club.

Romine sees the nearly 300 Redstone Arsenal Flying club members transform when they climb inside one of club's 11 planes.

People who have access to the arsenal; military and contractors alike can join the club and take advantage of the army morale, welfare and recreation program.

"They can go up with an instructor and actually fly the airplane and they'll spend a whole day from 8 o' clock till almost dark to do that," said Romine.

Romine keeps the single-engine fleet running in top shape. He said the program provides the freedom for people to enjoy time off from their stressful jobs.

"You can get from here to Destin in two hours and I've done that quite a few times."
