NORMAL, Ala. (WAFF) - One of Alabama A&M University’s own has been nominated to the Jerry Rice Award Watch List.
AAMU Redshirt Freshman Quarterback Eric Handley is among 22 student-athletes who have been nominated to the watch list.
The award is named after Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice, and it honors the FCS Freshman Player of the Year in Division I football.
So far this season, Handley has started in three of the seven games he has seen playing time in. He is 75 of 115 passing for 875 yards, with seven touchdowns and four interceptions.
He is averaging 125 yards passing per game and threw a career-best three touchdowns, along with 355 yards at Bethune-Cookman.
The winner of the 2025 Jerry Rice Award will be announced on December 3 and honored at the Stats Perform National Awards Show on January 3 in Nashville, Tennessee.
