Morning Huntsville murder under investigation

One person is dead, another recovering and Madison County Sheriff's deputies are on the hunt for two men in connection with the murder.

The shooting and beating took place in the victim's home on Steakley Road near Bell Factory Road in Madison County.

Sheriff's deputies say the two men are considered armed and dangerous and still in Huntsville.

Deputies already have two women in custody and they are still looking for two men involved in the case, 24-year-old Billy Matthew Smith of Morgan City and 22-year-old Kevin Michael Higinbotham. Both are wanted for questioning in connection to the gruesome crime that happened late Monday night.

Shortly after 11:30 pm, deputies were called to the Steakley road residence.

There they found 30-year-old Joseph Seals dead with a gunshot to his head. His wife, Amanda Erwin, was found alive with a blow to her head caused by the butt of a gun. There was a third person who lived with the couple; she originally called deputies to report the crime.

Deputies say a total four suspects are involved in this crime. They say the two men and two women came to the home. While inside -- one of the suspects was talking with Seals in the back room when a gunshot was heard.

In the process of fleeing the home, the suspect hit Seals' wife.

The two female suspects -- 22-year-old Brandy Nicole Paul and 29-year-old Cristin Lee Jackson were found a while later at Sun-Lake Apartments off Zeirdt Road in Madison. They have been booked in the Madison County Jail.
