Troopers: Lauderdale County driver killed by vehicle while checking mail

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A two-vehicle crash in Lauderdale County claimed the life of a Waterloo man on Tuesday.
The crash occurred at approximately 7 p.m. on Alabama 20 about 17 miles west of Florence. Alabama State Troopers say Billy Rayburn Smith, 68, was killed when his 2001 Chevrolet pickup was struck by a 2011 GMC pickup while Smith checked his mail.
Smith was pronounced dead at ECM Hospital in Florence.
No other information was released.
