Crews respond to vehicle fire in Hazel Green

HAZEL GREEN, AL (WAFF) - Crews extinguished a fire in Hazel Green on Wednesday.
Toney Fire & Rescue says that their units responded to a fire on Helton Avenue around 7:30 a.m. involving a Madison County sanitation garbage truck. The driver of the vehicle said that the fire started in the engine compartment before spreading to the garbage hull of the truck.
The fire was reportedly under control within 10 minutes and extinguished within 20 minutes.
There were no injuries reported in the fire.
