HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Two people can no longer run in Huntsville's municipal elections on Aug. 28.

Les Tillery was running for Huntsville City Council District 2. On Facebook, he said it was over a technicality.

"Due to a filing technicality with the candidate declaration process, I was not qualified to appear on the municipal ballot for August 28th. Despite numerous appeals under the guidance of professional counsel, my efforts to remain in the race were unsuccessful. Naturally, I am upset that a minor discrepancy, not submitting two forms simultaneously, were grounds to disqualify my candidacy. As of today, I am officially suspending my campaign for city council, but I am more optimistic than ever for Huntsville's future and look forward to serving my community," he said.

Huntsville school board District 2 candidate J. "Beason" Fordham was also disqualified. He said there was a technical error as far as his campaign filing.
