Decatur man accused of kidnapping, raping, assaulting woman with bat

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - A man is being held without bond after allegedly attacking a woman.

The Morgan County E911 Center received the call of a disturbance on Sunday. Decatur officers responded and made contact with the victim. Police said she had been assaulted.

The victim told officers that Tony Lamar Boyd broke into her home earlier in the morning while she was asleep. She said he assaulted her with a baseball bat and would not allow her to leave.

The victim was able to escape after Boyd fell asleep inside her residence, according to police.

Officers made entry into the home and found Boyd.

After further investigation, Boyd was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, second-degree domestic violence assault, and violation of a protection from abuse order.

Boyd was transported to the Morgan County Jail. Morgan County Circuit Judge Jennifer Howell ordered him to be held without bond.

The victim was transported to Decatur Morgan Hospital for treatment. She is expected to make a full recovery.
