NORTH ALABAMA (WAFF) - Gov. Kay Ivey has announced three job training programs that will go to assist students in north Alabama.

The announcement comes after grants from Appalachian Regional Commission that reportedly totaled $373,348.

The grants will go to Snead Community College and Calhoun Community College and will help fund programs that teach app development, aviation maintenance and aerospace welding.

Funds for the grant going to Snead State will be used to purchase Mac computers, iPads, and other technology to be used for Apple's App Development Pilot Program for Community Colleges.

Another program will reportedly teach airframe and power-plant technology used in the aviation industry, in courses that will be taught at the Albertville Regional Airport.

Calhoun Community College will receive a grant that will be used for an aerospace welding program taught at its Huntsville campus.
