Florence police arrest Tuscumbia man on burglary charges

FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) - A man has been charged in connection to multiple burglaries in the Florence.

Florence police say that they responded to a suspicious vehicle in the area of Brookdale Assisted Living on July 19. After responding, officers found that the vehicle was unoccupied.

Officers later located Chance Crossett, 24, of Tuscumbia and found that he was in possession of a firearm. They later discovered that that gun was stolen from one of the burglaries.

Additional officers responded to the area and located several burglarized vehicles in the Cedar Park community which is adjacent to Brookdale Assisted Living.

Crossett was arrested and booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center. Authorities later searched his home in Tuscumbia.

Additional evidence of the burglaries was located as well as multiple stolen firearms.

Police say that the evidence ties Crossett to other crimes in Florence, Lauderdale County, Colbert County, Muscle Shoals, and Tuscumbia. He was charged with unlawful possession of burglar tools, unlawful possession of a pistol without a permit, theft of property in the second degree, and burglary in the third degree.
