(WAFF) - Construction on the Toyota-Mazda plant is on hold as a result of a lawsuit that claims construction will endanger the life of an indigenous fish. But despite that, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle made a trip to the Shoals to talk about the opportunities the plant could offer residents there.
Battle met with city leaders and business owners in the Shoals. He said all Alabamians need to prepare for the workforce expansion.
Battle said the Toyota Mazda Plant set to open in 2021 will create workforce opportunities in the Shoals.
Battle said the Shoals has a lot of open land and a highly skilled production workforce. That translates into future economic gain for the Shoals.
