JACKSON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Alabama 35 has reopened to traffic, according to the Jackson County EMA.

The southbound lanes had shut down at the bridge due to a paint spill involving an 18-wheeler that happened Monday morning on Alabama 35 at Alabama 40.

Traffic was diverted to the northbound bridge due to the paint spill.

Investigators said the driver's brakes failed as he was turning on Alabama 35 from Alabama 40. The truck flipped, spilling paint all over Alabama 35 just before the river bridge. The driver was taken to Highlands Medical Center and released with minor injuries.
