LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - The owner of Midway Furniture and Appliance says he is tired of seeing fatal crashes near his business.

David Cluxton has owned the business at the intersection of Dupree Worthey and Highway 72 for 22 years.

He said he's seen a crash nearly every month.

"Well I think it's mainly because of the hill here, we've got this hill, when they top that hill and these people are trying to pull out of that intersection, you're talking only seconds," said Cluxton.

We reached out to the Alabama Department of Transportation for statistics, but it did not return a request for comment.

The intersection saw a fatal accident earlier in June, where a crash between a motorcycle and two cars left the motorcyclist dead.

A Google search produced reports of a fatal crashes in 2005 and 2015, with another crash in May.

Cluxton said he's reached out to Limestone County about putting up a stop light, but he was told it was too expensive.

"He said 'well you know it costs $300,000 to put a light in out there.' So I was like, 'Oh my God you've got to be kidding me, what are lives worth now?'" Cluxton said.

The Limestone County Engineering Department did not return a request for comment.
