Man charged with shooting 2 at Decatur house party

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - Decatur police have arrested a man they say shot two people last month.

Investigators say Charles Edward Baker Jr. shot his girlfriend and another man at a house party on Hoover Avenue on June 15. Police say Baker also shot himself.

Baker is charged with first-degree domestic violence, first-degree assault and second-degree assault.

During the initial investigation, Baker and his girlfriend were both transported to Huntsville Hospital with gunshot wounds. Multiple witnesses identified Baker as the shooter, according to police.

Later that day, detectives learned that a third person had been shot during the incident. He arrived at Parkway Hospital with a single gunshot wound. That victim had waited several hours to receive medical treatment. He was later transported to Huntsville Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.

Two felony warrants for Baker were obtained on June 25.

Baker turned himself in on Thursday. He is being held on a $90,000 dollar bond in the Morgan County Jail.
