HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - The Tennessee Valley Kitchen Cops have released their findings from a round of inspections in the last week of June. For the most part, the restaurants targeted this week turned out good scores. Several even earned a perfect 100. But, there were other places with issues that needed to be resolved.
In Red Bay, Swamp John's had to make some adjustments after getting a 79 on their report. There was mislabeled sanitizer, mold in an ice machine and problems with washing utensils. Those issues are now fixed.
The City Café on Drake Avenue in Huntsville had the lowest score in Madison County this week, with a 77. Inspectors found a fly in food and debris on tea nozzles. There was also a problem with several foods in a cooler being too warm.
There were three spots in Athens that caused problems. The Marathon MiniMart at Highway 72 & Cloverleaf Drive got a 79 when inspectors found dirty drink nozzles, sausage at the wrong temperature and no sanitizer.
The Logan's Roadhouse on Athens Limestone Boulevard earned a 77 because of chicken tenders and wings at the wrong temperature and a lack of soap at the sink.
And Mike's Food Mart at Highway 72 & Lindsay Lane gets the lowest score in the Tennessee Valley this week with a 67. There was missing sanitizer, dirty ice machines and drink nozzles and employees handling food with bare hands.
