(WAFF) - Bridgette Marshall, the wife of Attorney General Steve Marshall, has passed away in Tennessee.
The Office of Attorney General says she passed away Sunday morning after a long struggle with mental illness.
A statement from that office says, "Bridgette was a devoted and much beloved daughter, wife and mother. We ask that the people of Alabama keep the Marshall family in their prayers during this most difficult time."
Governor Kay Ivey, as well as other Alabama politicians, expressed their condolences to the Marshall family.
Troy King, who is also running for Attorney General, offered his condolences as well, saying, "Today we are not in different political campaigns or camps. We are husbands and wives, fathers and mothers. We cannot imagine the deep sense of loss and grief the Marshall family must face."
King also said that he has paused his campaign out of respect for the Marshall family.
Donny Shaw also extended his condolences on behalf of the Huntsville/Madison County FOP Lodge 6.
