Armed and dangerous man captured in Marshall County
MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A Marshall County man is in police custody after he was arrested on probation charges with Guntersville police and other charges with the Marshall County Drug Task Force.
On June 13, the Marshall County Drug Task Force spotted Wesley Staten, who police say had several warrants out on him in a car. Investigators say an attempt was made to pull Staten over when he jumped out and ran from the car.
A foot pursuit ensued and through an investigation. Investigators say they received information from the community that Staten was at a hotel in Albertville.
Police say Staten was advised of police presence and would not comply and open the door of the hotel room initially. Agents could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the room.
Agents say they could hear the toilet being flushed. Shortly after that, Wesley opened the door, signaling that he had given up. Police say Staten had to be advised multiple times to turn around and put his hands behind his back. Agents saw marijuana floating in the toilet where Staten had been.
Investigators also say that agents saw loose marijuana all over the floor and counter in the bathroom, as well as multiple bags of marijuana, were located in the bathroom in plain view along with scales and baggies for packaging and resale.
Staten was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrants with probation with the Guntersville Police Department and new charges with the Marshall County Drug Task Force.
