TRINITY, AL (WAFF) - An arrest has been made following a shooting in Trinity.

Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said that dispatch received a call Thursday night from a victim, Kevin Sapp, who said that he had been shot while driving east on County Road 460 near County Road 327 in the East Lawrence area of Trinity.

Sapp told authorities that a suspect, Corey Wayne Melson, 25, had shot his car and that one round had hit him.

Sapp was taken to Huntsville Hospital by ambulance, where he was later released with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities later arrested Melson after Sapp gave them his name and a description of his vehicle. He has been charged with assault in the second degree, attempt to commit murder, and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.
