DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - An investigation into an explosion in Decatur has led authorities to a suspect.

Multiple units, including Decatur Police, Decatur Fire & Rescue, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, responded to a DoubleTree hotel in Decatur on Monday in reference to an explosion.

An investigation afterward led officials to determine that William Davis, a guest at the hotel, had caused the explosion after tampering with a container of butane.

The hotel received severe damage due to the explosion.

Davis, who sustained injuries from the explosion, was transported to UAB Hospital. Decatur Police say that once he is released, he will be taken into custody at the Morgan County Jail and charged with arson in the third degree.
