SHEFFIELD, AL (WAFF) - The Sheffield Street Party is this weekend and the City Council has created an entertainment district for the party. It will allow people to carry alcoholic drinks from place to place.
Scott Whittle, the owner of 2nd & 13 Sports Bar & Grille, said the City Council's plan allows for the entertainment district to extend from 2nd Street to 4th Street and from Raleigh Avenue to Nashville Avenue.
Restaurant and bar customers will be able to walk those streets with specially marked cups.
Whittle said Sheffield police will have a mapped out area of the district to help them patrol the event. That plan will keep the open alcohol consumption confined to specific areas, which Whittle thinks will help with crowd management.
