Construction of Mid-City development on schedule
HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - If everything goes as planned, Mid-City development in Huntsville will open in 2022. Top Golf, Dave and Busters, and High Point Climbing and Fitness are businesses coming to the area. Top Golf is already up and running, Dave and Busters and High Point have an opening date of 2019.
Construction of both is expected to begin this summer with staggered construction dates.
The development is currently split up into six phases. Phase one deals with the building of the roads that will eventually lead into each business. That phase is 95% complete.
Phase two is the construction of the retail development businesses, which is expected to start this summer. Over the next few weeks, we expect to hear announcements on restaurants and a boutique hotel coming to the development.
Another element to Mid-City, it will also have a heavy influence on the music industry. The city is trying to bring more music talent to the area and Mid-City is helping in this project.
MidCity Live, the 7-2, the Camp, and a world-class amphitheater will be built, all centered around music. MidCity Live will focus on the performing arts. Construction is expected to begin in 2019.
The 7-2 is focusing on talent development and even talent collaboration. The Camp will be a fully functioning restaurant and bar, this project will be complete this summer.
The construction of an amphitheater is hoping to bring in a-list performers for residents in Huntsville to enjoy. The city and the developer of Mid-City, RCP Companies, are still trying to select someone to create the designs.
They hope a design plan will be done by the end of the summer and construction to begin in 2019. A completion date has been set for some time in 2020.
