Searches in Madison Co. lead to drug, firearm arrests

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Officials in Madison Co. conducted two searches that led to the seizing of drugs and a firearm on Wednesday.

One search was conducted in the 3400 block of Venonna Ave. in Huntsville, resulting in the seizure of three-and-a-half pounds of marijuana and one firearm. Police arrested Nathaniel Fletcher, 41, and Devon Fields, 24 as a result of that search. They were charged with trafficking marijuana.

Another search was conducted at the 2200 block of East Arbor Dr., where officials collected fourteen pounds of high-grade marijuana and three firearms. That search resulted in the arrest of Demetris Mitchell, 29. He was charged with trafficking marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

The searches were conducted by the Madison Co. Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit and the SWAT Team.

The suspects were all booked into to Madison Co. Jail. They have since been released.
