MOULTON, AL (WAFF) - A Moulton man is dead after his wife stabbed him with a sword, according to the sheriff's office.

Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell reports that deputies responded a domestic violence call at the couple's home on County Road 560 on April 2. He said deputies found the victim, Mark Hale, sitting on the front porch and bleeding from the chest.

Mitchell said Hale told deputies that his wife had stabbed him while he was in the living room playing his guitar. Hale reportedly told them his wife threw the weapon outside. They found it and discovered it was a sword.

Hale was taken from the scene by ambulance and later flown to Huntsville Hospital.

His wife, 50-year-old Jeannette Hale, was arrested at the residence and taken to the Lawrence County Jail. She was charged with second-degree domestic violence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mitchell said Mark Hale died at Huntsville Hospital this week. He said the exam determined he died from complications from a stab wound.

Mitchell said the evidence in the case will be presented to the Lawrence County grand jury.
