Car burglaries put Tuscumbia neighborhood on high alert

TUSCUMBIA, AL (WAFF) - Tuscumbia police are investigating the Colonial Heights area. Residents are on high alert for car thefts.

At least eight cars have been burglarized during the past week. Neighbors say the car thefts are alarming, but they are grateful the police are doing their job.

"At first we were real scared and very frightened because of the possibilities, but Tuscumbia has a wonderful police force and they are on it," said Georgia Richardson.

Chief Tony Logan says thanks to a homeowner's surveillance video, they have some good leads. He is warning everyone to be smart and not leave anything of value in plain sight in your vehicle.

"We outreached on Facebook and remind people to not leave any valuables in the car especially firearms," said Logan.

If you see anyone suspicious in the area to please contact the authorities.
