ATHENS, AL (WAFF) - Have you ever heard of a pigeonhole theft game? It's been around a while. And as you'll see in this week's Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers, it cost a victim $18,000 in cash.
This happened at the PNC Bank in Athens on March 15. Police say a woman presented herself as a licensing bond agent to her victim. She allegedly promised if the victim withdrew $18,000 in cash from her account, they could split the big wad of cash the suspect showed to the victim.
It's a scam known as a pigeonhole theft.
The woman here took the $18,000 and left. But she also left behind some extremely clear pictures. And that's where you can make some cash, no scams.
And this should be a slam dunk.
There's a reward of up to $1,000 if you can help police identify and locate this thief.
