LINCOLN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - An off-duty volunteer firefighter is being hailed a hero after rushing into a burning home to save a sleeping woman in Lincoln County, Tennessee Friday afternoon.
The house was in the 3000 block of U.S. 431 in the Park City community.
Emergency personnel said Bo White, an off-duty volunteer firefighter from Lincoln County, was driving by and saw the fire. He ran inside, found the woman asleep, and got her out, according to her brother.
"Like a superhero, something or other, he just busted out running through there, kicked the door in and toted her out. I mean, I couldn't have done it. There's no way I could have done what he did," said her brother, Ronald Ashby.
The woman suffered serious burns. She's being treated at a hospital.
The house appears to be a total loss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
