HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - At least three people were displaced because of an early morning fire at a two-story home on Ryland Pike on Thursday.

A grandmother and two grandchildren were home at the time of the fire. The fire started as the children were getting ready for school.

The Moores Mill Fire Department and at least nine other fire units including the Central Fire Department and the Huntsville Fire Department responded to the fire.

The Central Fire Department say a hair straightener may have started the fire, but are still investigating the accident to find out exactly how it started.

Investigators tell us the fire started in the bedroom and five minutes later it was fully involved. They say there's "significant" damage to the home from smoke and flames.

Investigators tell us the fire is out, but fire units are working to put out the hot spots. The American Red Cross will help in assisting the three victims.
