ARAB, AL (WAFF) - A longtime manager of a Marshall County electric cooperative is now on leave. Officials cite the reason as the discovery of accounting irregularities.

Officials say the irregularities were discovered in a recent audit.

Arab Electric Cooperative Member Services Supervisor John P. Willis III, or Jack as he is known, is now on leave without pay.

Coop attorney Clint Maze said Willis was placed on leave on March 6.

Willis has been with the cooperative since 1988.

In his position, Willis, would deal with the public through collections and dealing with customer complaints.

Maze said the irregularities were discovered as part of a TVA rate and credit audit.

Maze said at this time there is no board meeting set to deal with this issue but the investigation is ongoing.
